Having the right equipment is such an important factor in enabling a wider range of customers, including those with limited dexterity, to drive safely and with the best possible driving experience we can offer. We’ve had hand control cars available to rent from Avis in Australia for several years now, but our partnership with Total Ability brings us even more lived experience and support to further build our fleet with the latest technology.

Avis Hand Control Rental Cars have been fitted with the Fadiel Italiana Ergonomic Radial Accelerator and Brake Lever. This is a quality hand control designed for operation with limited dexterity, and easily operated by those with full dexterity as well. The vehicles can be driven with either the regular foot control or the hand control, making it easy to share the drive between passengers.

We have the Kia Stonic and the Renault Koleos fitted with this hand control equipment. These SUVs are equipped with the modern conveniences of smart cruise control, reversing cameras and smartphone connectivity. We’ve made sure the cost of rental for hand control cars is the same as the equivalent standard car group.

Vehicles are subject to availability and will vary between locations. To drive a hand control vehicle (Modified Vehicle), you and any Authorised Driver must meet the conditions, or any other requirements (if any) imposed on your Driver Licence. Rental is subject to acceptance of the Avis Standard Rental Agreement, in addition to our Modified Vehicles Agreement.
